Frustrated - Spent $10 to have it not sync with iOS, even though settings are fine

App itself would be fine, but I purchased the Mac version specifically to sync with my iOS app. It doesn’t work at all.

Please make it sync!

A really nice app and would love it if it synced across the board. My iPhone app syncs with Apple Watch but not to this Mac OS app and vice versa. Wunderlist, a similar and free app, syncs fine all the way around. Guess I’ll be using that until Realmac gets this fixed. Amazing that this feature has been broken for so long!

OSX version not quite so good

The iOS version is great, but the OSX version is not. The interface and controls for the OSX version is almost identical to the iOS version. Some actions are just way easier with the touch screen than with the mouse. For example, I would often pull down too much with my mouse to create a new task and thus accidently go to the other lists. And also I’d have to swipe almost all the way across my magic mouse to clear a task or to delete it. In conclusion the app is just designed for the iOS version, the OSX version isn’t quite user friendly but just serves as a means to view it on your laptop (which costs 10 bucks).

Does not sync

Ive loved this app and used it on all my devices for the last 4 years or so. But, like many others have noted, it’s no longer syncing between devices. This renders it essentially useless. HEY DEVELOPERS—FIX THIS OR LOSE YOUR USERS!!!! People have been complaining about this for MONTHS!!

iCloud sync simply doesn’t work!

For $10 this app should do the most basic thing it needs to do…SYNC! The fact that the developers have not sussed this out over multiple OS X updates is an embarrassment! The ios app is no better concerning sync. If the troubleshooting tips they give you don’t work they just ignore your emails and tweets, etc. Pitiful! I’d been with CLEAR since the beginning and just can’t equate the fun gestures and colors with productivity anyore. The app is all show and nothing else at this point. I’ve since deleted all CLEAR apps from my devices and started using the built in Reminders app from Apple and despite not having the flashy gestures and colors the Apple app is actually far more productive……and it syncs! FIX THIS APP!

iCloud Sync on Mac not working

Works great on my iPad and IPhone, now I would love it on my Mac too, but it’s been broken for ages.

Great app, but could be better

I love using clear on iOS and WatchOS. Using it on OS X however is pretty unintuitive. It’s not a bad experience but it could definitely be better. I’d love to see them adopt a check box like on the Apple Watch over the swyping system they have on OS X, it just doesn’t seem to be working. I’d also wish they’d add the option for reoccuring reminders. It’s still a great app and worth the money but could definitely be better.

I just love this app

I’ve been a Clear user since the early days and I’ve got to say this is one of the most usefual apps on all my devices (IOS and Mac). I bet I pull this thing up to reference or add something at least a half dozen times a day, if not more. I keep shopping lists, project lists, to do lists, pre-/post-travel lists and even things like my wallet contents in case it’s lost or stollen (w/o full CC numbers of course). The iCloud sync across all my devices makes it a great app for adding to when something occurs to me and it’s then there from my phone or iPad when Im ready to reference it. I think I tried 3 or 4 “to do list” apps before I found Clear a few years ago. Anyway, I was just adding to a list from my Mac for the 3rd time today and was compelled to write a review. Love this app!

Mac version doesn’t work!

The iOS version of Clear is great, but it doesn’t sync on the Mac. It’s been months and they’ve done nothing about it. See the other reviews. I’m not alone.

Pinch vertically to close lists is not working

The app really delivers on its purpose, I just would like it to have a better costumer service, so small issues like the "Pinch vertically to close lists” functionality will be addressed without having to make a review about it.

Doesn’t sync

Paid a combined $15 for mac and iOS versions and cannot get them to sync. Save your money.

Great. No issues at all!

I have never had any issues at all with Clear. It’s done everything as promised, the only thing I cannot understand is why it has to stay in my dock. Clear is the perfect menubar app, so why must it remain in my dock to stay open? That seems like an oversight.

Mac app can’t sync with iCloud

I have enjoyed the iPhone app and I bought the mac app to keep tasks in sync. Unfortunately this app will stop syncing via iCloud after some time. Since you can’t sync with Dropbox there is no way to resolve this. Like other users I have tried everything (including deleting all my tasks!) and nothing has fixed the problem. I can’t recommend this app.

Without iCloud Sync It’s Pretty Useless

I miss being able to have the same list on both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro, but it’s been a long time since they’ve been out of sync. Items are coming from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone, but my iPhone is otherwise invisible. I can’t get it to upload reminders to iCloud which is a serious deal breaker. Had I known about this earlier I certainly wouldn’t have shelled out the small fortune for it. A note about the UI and UX: Everyone is complaining that it’s unintuitive for a desktop but I disagree. I find the interface intuitive. I feel like these people are used to Windows where they can’t even scroll horizontally. They’re probably used to the broken functionality and they don’t know how to handle good UX. I say this lightheartedly. I think we need to push the bounderies more. Windows 8 was bad UX. Clear is not. Anyway! The app is great but without sync it’s seriously lacking.

Reccommended

I have used many to-do apps. This is the best for me so far. I have it on my iPhone & Mac. It syncs between them. I have used it for about 18 months now. Usually I dump a to-do app after a month or so. After using it for a year I tried another well regarded to-do app and used it for about 3 months. But then I dumped that one and came back to Clear. I love the interface & the swipes. I love that you can name and re-name your lists. With some apps you are stuck with their list names. I highly reccommend it. My wife has just started using it on her devices and is very happy with it. It also has reminders if you want but I have not used that feature. Improvements I hope to see a) on iOS the ability to move an item from one list to another easily without the laborious actions of select, select all, copy, escape, go to the new list, create a new item, and paste. On the Mac OS X you can just drag the item from one list to another (which is fantastic) but not on iOS. b) on the Mac, deleting a task is a bit hit or miss for me and so I usually just delete tasks on the iPhone which then syncs to the Mac. Overall for me this is a 5 star app and is one of my most used apps on a daily basis. Just pay the money. It is worth every penny.

Developer refuses to provide requested changes.

I’ve asked this developer multiple times to provide Dropbox support in this app. Every other app on the planet supports Dropbox, or at least some type of cloud service other than iCloud, so I don’t understand why they simply refuse to do it. You have no way of syncing lists with family members until this happens. Anyway, one star until it supports Dropbox. Just came back to check if Dropbox was supported yet. Still not. Too bad...

Don’t download, app has been abandoned.

I’m afraid RealMac Software has abandonned this app. The sync won’t work, the badge for overdue reminders won’t work, and it has been this way for months. This app is broken, and developpers don’t give a s**t, still charging 10 bucks…

iCloud sync is not fully functional.

I purchased Clear for my iPhone and my Mac in hopes that I’d be able to sync my lists between devices without any hassle…Unfortunately the iCloud sync currently only works one way. If you create a list on your mac, it will sync to your iPhone, but will not work from your iPhone to your Mac. If the developers would fix the syncing issue, this would defintely be a much more worthwhile application. Would also be nice to have a way to share lists with family members who use a different iCloud account….

Excellent for iPad, good for desktop and iPhone. An honest loving review.

I absolutely love Clear for iPad and have been using it consistently for more than a year. Its iPad version lets you create many lists, add multiple tasks to each list, move tasks between lists, set reminders, and rank both lists and tasks in order of importance as indicated via color gradation. Its visually intuitive and the predictive text is quite good too. The ability to move tasks between lists is a feature only on the iPad, and is sorely lacking on both the desktop and iphone versions. I don’t mind it so much on the iPhone as I mainly use that to cross of tasks as I move about. Only on the iPad can I reorder and reprioritize my tasks with ease. If they fix the desktop version to be more like the iPad, this review will go up to five stars. I fixed my syncing issue by turning the Sync option off, letting it sit, turning it back on and then not using the program on any device for about 4 hours. If it makes you delete your lists before disengaging from the cloud, simply export your lists to email and them reimport when it is all fixed.

Syncing is the key, and I miss it

I love this app on my iPhone and iPad. It’s great for quick to-do items, breaking large projects into smaller tasks, and involves fewer steps than Apple Reminders for most workflows. I also like Clear’s non-nonsense UI and sound effects — gives checking off items an extra little “hooray!” To me, the Mac app feels like a port from iOS. The interface just *feels* swipe-able, and while some gestures made the switch, others didn’t. Moving from one group to another, for example, takes a click or two. No big deal, just noticeably … touch-UI-ish. I only gave Clear (for Mac) four stars because it can’t sync between devices — at least, not for me. Sometime last year Clear on my Macs (work and home) and iDevices stopped sharing information. Resetting all worked for about a week, then the problem returned. Today my lists are inconsistent and disjointed. I only use Clear on my iPad for its ability to move tasks between groups with gestures. I should stress that this is just my experience, and Clear for Mac worked on my trusty MB Air for almost a year before the problem occurred. I miss using Clear. That’s the sign of a good app.
