Clear – Tasks, Reminders & To-Do Lists App Reviews

The advanced menu hasnt been integrated in that new iPad version just yet, so if you are using that, start doing these steps up to d then do those below. Until it becomes available, here is a work around that should work: a. disable iCloud sync on the app, in the settings of Clear for iOS 7. b. on your iPads Settings. Under iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage, make sure that Clear doesnt appear. If it does, please delete it. c. delete Clear from your iPad. d. turn off your iPad e. turn it back on f. reinstall Clear 1. Enable the Advanced menu in Clear • iOS: Open Clear → Move to top level → Shake the device twice → "Advanced" level should appear → Tap “Advanced” → Tap “iCloud Wipe” → Tap “Wipe iCloud Data” → Tap “Remove iCloud Data” • OS X: Open Clear → About Clear (found under Clear menu bar item) → Type "debug" (without quotes) → "Advanced" menu will appear under Clear menu bar item → Click on Clear → Advanced → Wipe → "Wipe iCloud Data" → "Remove iCloud Data” 2. Once each device has been wiped (wiping turns off iCloud in the app automatically), force-quit (iOS) or quit the app (OS X). 3. “Delete All” data from the iCloud pref pane (if Clear is shown) • iOS: Settings → iCloud → Storage & Backup → Manage Storage → Clear → Edit → Delete All • OS X: System Preferences → iCloud → Manage → Clear → Delete All 4. Reboot each device 5. Re-enable iCloud in Clear on each device • iOS: Open Clear → Menu → Settings → iCloud • OS X: Open Clear → Preferences → iCloud

love it!

used the iphone version for some time and now I am in love with the mac and iPad app. This app really makes sense and the icloud sync is amazing. Would love to have the chance to create subgroups and customize colors of individual lists. But maybe its better to leave it like this, simple and really really useful!!!

Sync does not WORK!

I have bought clear+, then clear, I have recreated all the list but the sync still does not work. Please, solve this problem because is really frustrating.

PERFECT! BUT . . . .

It was a perfect app, but now "pinching together vertically to collapse the current level and navigate up” doesn’t work anymore. Why? WHY ????? And the new update is unuseful. It’s a pity, cause this feature is working on the iOS app. . . .

almost

this app would be a lot more useful if the iCloud sync actually worked

Clear sets the standard

The gestures for Clear make it a stand out. It’s awesome.

Not as useful as the iOS version

Clear, as an iOS app, is enjoyable to use. The primary reason is its interface, which makes all the sense in the world on a small touchscreen. It’s intuitive, and easy to use, and fast, and attractive. As a desktop app, it makes no sense at all. The design and interaction, even though it’s visually identical to the mobile interface, seems completely arbitrary. It’s not intuitive in the slightest. I’ve been using this app for over a year and it still takes me two mistaken guesses to perform an action before I accomplish it. The main reason for using the desktop version is for syncing with the iPhone version, and syncing is slow. That said—I do enjoy having a desktop portal to my iPhone app. If Clear had an interface more appropriate to desktop use (perhaps visually alluding to—versus recreating—the mobile version) I’d enjoy this app a lot more.

Excelent Feature!

I really like this app! I hope you guys still be adding more features to it; of course without lose the simplicity and clarity of it!

Amazing

I use this application to keep track of my quizzes and tests for school, and to plan my study times. I never am not prepared, as this application is a great way to see any list at a list. I find the notification feature helpful, as it rolls reminders and any to do list application into one. I do not know what I would do without this application.

should be better: MUCH BETTER!

iphone version is better. Mac version needs serious renewal on design, SYNC and gestures getting accostomed to mac. def not worth $10.

Best in class

This software is excellent. It isn’t mixed up with complicated options that are useless. It is bright, elegant, handy, and well set up. It syncs beautifully across computers and devices. It even has fun sound effects. Don’t waste time getting lots of different GTD apps. Just get this.

Great app on iOS, but Mac app’s iCloud sync broken

Great use of gestures on iPhone/iPad for a really simple experience, I highly recommend if you’re using it on the go. I can’t really recommend the Mac app version for now though. I just paid $10 for the Mac app so I could view my lists on desktop, and despite double checking all of my iCloud settings and following their troubleshooting guidelines (even the weird hidden ‘debug’ option to refresh iCloud) the Mac app is certainly not syncing with my other devices. Would love to change my review if this is resolved. Otherwise the Mac app is alright but could use some refinement in the UX of the product. It kind of feels like an afterthought as "Pinch vertically” and “Swipe” are still in the preset tutorial list, and make no sense on desktop. I was also kind of disappointed that the iPad UI wasn’t carried over to the desktop app since it was really nicely done. Breaking out the UI to see your master lists while looking at individual ones is nice, and seems way better than hiding the navigation in a top-right menu icon.

Great on iOS - meh on Mac

Looks and feels like an iOS app on Mac - can’t drag between lists — doesn’t take advantage of the Mac interface. Great on iPad, pretty good on iPhone, but the Mac app just isn’t full-featured.

Quick, Simple, and Elegant.

The gestures and simple interface that this app has make it a fast, lightwieght, and efficient to-do list app, complete with iCloud sync to send your to-dos and reminders to your iPhone or iPad.

Was awesome….until it stopped syncing.

This app was a favorite. I’m talking on the home screen of every device. Then something happen. For the past few months the application stopped syncing with my Macbook Pro and iPad Air. Therefore, when I finish a task on one device, it does not communicate with the others. All of my lists are now screwed up. This is rather annoying since the app was not free and is somehow in the essentail category in the app store. Please fix the issue or start offering your services for free.

Does what I want

I like how simple Clear is: It stores a maximal amount of information about what I need to accomplish with minimal visual busy-ness.

They keep breaking things

I wonder how much QA they do before shipping updates. This week they broke the iOS version so you can’t set reminders… “No problem,” I think to myself “I’ll just do it on the desktop!” And then I dsicover that with this version of the Mac app I can only set the date on a reminder. The time is stuck at the time you added the reminder. They seem to be doing their best to drive me back to Apple’s Reminders. At least it syncs reliably… and supports recurring reminders… and shared lists... and has Siri integration. When I really think about it the only thing Clear has going for it is the ability to quickly reorder items and clear a list of completed items. Other than that it’s pretty outmatched. I’m kind of sad to say it but I’ll probably be moved over to Reminders a month from now.

Dreadfully slow under El Capitan

1.1.7 badly needs an update for OSX10.11 El Capitan - immediately after updating the OS, Clear became extremely unresponsive to typed input. Type as fast as you want, and it will dribble characters to the screen at about 2-3 per second. Extraordinarily frustrating. I’ve stopped using the desktop app entirely until this gets fixed.

On a Clear day. . . .

Well, you may not be able to see forever. . . but Clear will certainly help you get things done and stay focused. Clear works pretty well for me. Though, I’d like to see some features added which, in my opinion, would make it a better product: √ Checklists — I use Clear to make sure I do all the tasks associated with producing a little radio featurette I call Musical Notes (dot) Show. The devil is in the details and checklists are a good way of making sure all the steps in the process are taken care of. • Bulleted lists — Sometimes you just need to bullet-ize things to see the organizational possibilities. Even better, a minimalist outliner would be wonderful. 3. Numbered lists — Yes, numbered lists help collaborators edit a list to be in the proper sequence. - Reminders should be more specific about whether it’s a hard deadline, a milestone, or a start date. One annoying thing about Clear is that the desktop and iOS versions don’t seem to always be in sync. Since I’m on different devices throughout the day, I need the app to talk to all of them and have the same conversation with each. Is that Clear, Realmac Software? :) Overall, I really enjoy using Clear. I don’t have to fight it too much to make it do my bidding as I organize my life.

No support whatsoever!!!

Once announced I purchased both versions: for Mac & iOS. iCloud sync: never functional. Emailed Clear support team: useless. Adding new features: stale development missing the train. Selling sound packs for 2 bucks: pathetic. If I could, I would get my money back. Too much time have I spent trying to get it work the way it was advertised. Another app to rip money off. Obliterate!!! Cracked like a bell but dont mean that it rings and just cause its shiny dont mean that its clean The movement is over the flush has begun (That 1 Guy)
